History of Rave on Air
Ravensbourne College in Chislehurst is a small vocational university that specialises in the Design and Communication sectors. It prides itself on its strong industry contacts and many students leave to become very successful in their studied professions. Ravensbourne has a particularly strong Broadcasting department which boasts 2 in house studios and extensive equipment that competes with that that is found in the industry. To showcase the skills of the students and to really stretch the capabilities of Ravensbourne’s resources, the broadcasting department holds an event each year in June called ‘Rave on Air’
Rave on Air is run fundamentally by the students who organise the whole event from start to finish. It supports content that is commissioned, written and produced entirely by the students and last year we were fortunate enough to
broadcast across freeview. The event is a great opportunity for students to be seen by industry delegates who are invited down to watch the show.
Rave on Air is now entering its 39th year with each year naturally trying to out- shine the previous. In the past Rave on Air has gone by many names: Station on Air, Nu Rave and ROA to name a few.
