Meet the Commissioning Team
As well as the management team, a commisioning team is also chosen to manage the content on the Rave on Air Channels. The commissioning process started in February 2009 and lasted for two weeks. Students wishing to have their idea played at the event had to pitch their idea to the team in a rigorous selection process. If you have any questions about programming this year feel free to contact head of commissioning.

Gary Edwardson - Head of Commissioning. Email
"Hello all. It was only at the end of my second year at Ravensbourne that I realised I wanted to be involved in writing. So that's why this year I'm involved in the commissioning for Rave on Air. I am always happy to help out anyone that needs it, and put smiles on faces. I will be making sure that any programme commissioned for this years Rave on Air will be confident in their production."
Mark Somers - Deputy of Commissioning. Email
"Hi, my name is Mark Somers and I'm deputy commissioning editor. My main interest is in sound recording and Foley recording. I got involved in the commissioning process for this years ROA so that I could have a real involvement in the programming and help to create the feel of the event."
Ashley Watson - Commissioning. Email
I'm a first year Content Creation and Broadcast student, and wanted to get involved with Rave On Air because of all the positive things I had heard about the event. I decided the commissioning team would be a good opportunity because much of my experience is in producing and I have had to pitch my ideas to panels many times before. I thought this would be a chance to see how it works on the other side and improve my own ideas for pitching.
Owen Laird - Commissioning. Email
My name is Owen Laird. I came to Ravensbourne fae sunny Glasga last September. Back in the motherland I had previously studied at Cardonald College, moulding myself into the workhorse and pain in the arse I am now. I am an ambitious young lad and have looked for like-minded filmmakers during the commissioning process. Those who pitch ambitious and risky ideas are usually those that stick in my head and make me feel that they are deserving of slot at ROA.
ROA is a massive opportunity for all the students at Ravensbourne. However, it is also a prime time for young creative minds to take risks and experiment with ideas that they once though were never achievable (not sexual ideas), and those who are smart enough to realise this, will utilise Rave On Air's opportunities to the maximum.

When I am not producing, directing, writing or playing with cameras I do have other interests. I like a game of football, I enjoy a wee film every now and then, and I sometimes I just like to sit amongst friends and enjoy the moment. As for my personal life, I have two dogs and 4 cats back home, and we did have a hamster but he is sadly deed now. Hope you all enjoy Rave On Air 2009 and look out for “Brassica Rapa That!”.
Alireza Armian - Commissioning. Email
Al Armian's the name, Animation Commissioner is thee game. My role is to support Animation producers by preventing them from drinking to many cups of espresso's and using toothpicks to keep their eyes open before the last day of submissions for their programme.

On a more serious account, I am currently on my third year as an Animation Student at Ravensbourne, and I chose this role as Commissioner because I believed i liked to support the enthusiam of a new wave of student projects. Also being a part of the team has been a really fun and exciting experience and i would do it all over again if i had to. :)
