Synopsis

Balls Up is an exciting new sketch show, familiar in concept but fresh in ideas. Using keen and semi-professional actors, Balls Up will remind you of every sketch show you’ve seen before but without being unoriginal. Using a mixture of fast paced one-off sketches and recurring characters, the show varies its comedy and echoes a wealth of sketch shows before it. Balls Up was an idea initially thought up by us students who picked comedy as a preferred subject for an extensive group project. After the pre production process we discussed the prospect of putting it forward for ROA 09. And here we are! Balls Up can appeal to a wide audience however it all depends on how people perceive the type of comedy and sense of humour we have approached.

The Actors

Casting for the programme was a very smooth process, with us sending out casting adverts on a variety of websites, and receiving an overwhelming response. People seemed really enthusiastic and interested in our programme which was fantastic for us. We managed to whittle it down to the four we have above, each of them bringing something different and unique to our show. On set the vibe was very positive, with all the actors having a great chemistry, adapting to their characters and overall having a great laugh. Filming took place over a three day period with an additional fourth day to reshoot; the crew were very professional at all times, with good punctuality and enthusiasm onset. Filming Balls Up was an enjoyable process, with us all having fun and laughing, with the actor’s also throwing ideas forward to develop our sketches further. Finally, I would like to say a BIG thank you to all the crew and cast for making this production a success.
